Miss Pacific happy to prepare contestants
MISS Pacific Islands and the cultural ambassador Leoshina Kariha said she was happy to be back in Madang to prepare the contestants for their beauty contest.
Kariha met Miss Madang contestants at a meeting at the Madang Resort on Tuesday.
She arrived in Madang on Monday with chaperone Molly O’Rourke.
“It’s good to be back here in Madang, to meet and to talk to the girls,” Kariha said.
“I was at this stage once and to get them (contestants) prepared for their contest is an honour.”
The pageant has six contestants sponsored by Nambis Inn, Smugglers Inn, Madang Technical College and Madang Resort.
Divine Word University entered with two contestants, both from the PNG Studies Department. The Miss Madang pageant started with its traditional category yesterday with the crowning on Saturday.
Also present during the meeting was Madang’s pioneer Rotarian Maureen Hill.
Hill said that there were a lot of great Miss Madang contestants this year.
“Looking around the room now, I see a lot of potential,” Hill said.
