Miss PNG flies to regional contest

MISS Pacific Islands PNG Pageant queen left for Tonga yesterday for the regional contest.
“I am proud to be representing Papua New Guinea in the next leg of our race in the Kingdom of Tonga,” said Leoshina Kariha, the newly-crowned Miss Pacific Islands PNG 2018.
Kariha left yesterday with the MPIP PNG committee to Nuku’alofa for the regional Miss Pacific Islands Pageant.
The event will be staged from Saturday to Friday week, the 30th.
The theme for this year’s pageant is “Pasifiki Masani” or “Magnificent Pacific”.
“We have been preparing for a week-and-a-half since my crowning,” Kariha said.
“The MPIP committee has been all hands on deck.
“We are prepared to go and represent our country.”
Kariha thanked National Gaming Control Board, which is the official sponsor of the event, for covering travel costs and other expenses. Other contestants will come from American Samoa, Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga and Tuvalu.
Fiji, Nauru, Rapa Nui and Solomon Islands will not participate this year.
This will be the first time that Fiji and Solomon Islands have not taken part.
