A BEAUTY pageant has donated K1,000 cash and K10,000 worth of school equipment to improve learning at a primary school in Central.
Miss Pacific Islands Pageant (MPIP) 2022 Josie Nicholas, known as Miss Relaxo, said education was her focus area where she had been assigned to carry out her work.
“My aim is to see children, especially in my village in Kairuku, making it into high school since most of them do not make it that far,” she said.
“Therefore, donating education materials to them will hopefully help them in the long run.”
According to MPIP, Nicholas donated K1,000 in cash and K10,000 worth of books, stationery, sporting equipment and school items necessary for daily learning to Biotou Primary School.
MPIP said the donation was made possible with the support of her sponsor Relaxo and her book drive that was conducted as part of her fundraising effort towards her charity of choice.
Nicholas thanked everyone for attending the presentation, saying that this was a charity close to her heart because she was inspired by her dad’s community service to build classrooms and school projects in rural areas.
She said Relaxo had added six boxes of footwear out of its generosity and support towards its contestant.
“My team and I hope and wish for a better future for our people and hope this donation makes a difference in their life,” she said.
“I thank my sponsor and the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant PNG platform for giving me this wonderful opportunity.”
