VOTERS in Morobe whose names are not on the updated roll but who had voted in 2012 have been assured by provincial election manager Simon Soheke that their details are still on the “base roll”.
Soheke clarified this yesterday after two groups of voters from Finschhafen (Yabim-Mape, ward 4) and Huon Gulf (Wampar Urban, West Taraka) claimed that their names were missing because they did not fill Form 11.
But Soheke said Form 11 was only for voters who had turned 18 after the 2012 election.
Soheke advised people who had voted in 2012 they had only to verify their names on the base role and do not have fill Form 11.
Samuel Ena, a spokesperson for the West Taraka group, said they were not happy because many eligible voters’ names were missing on the roll update.
Ena said this flaw should be corrected quickly because the polling period was fast approaching and people needed to have their names on the roll to cast their votes.
