Missionaries keen to assist basketballers

FORMER Fijian international basketballer Paul Whippy and his wife Olive have expressed an interest to assist in basketball development in Port Moresby.
Whippy is in the country to take up a position withing his church as the centre manager for PNG and Solomon Islands church of Jesus Christ of the Latter day Saints.
Paul, has played basketball since he was 16 years old.
He and his wife met when they were in the national Fijian teams.
The Whippy’s have coached and managed their national team as well as local clubs and are interested in assisting the development of the sport particularly in Port Moresby.
They said they would want to meet with the sports leaders to see where they could assist.
The Whippy’s have six children who also share the same love for basketball.
 Three of their children are in the Fijian team and another is playing professional basketball in Spain.
The other two are missionaries for the church serving in the Pacific region.
