THE use of mobile phones these days is causing problems for young people and students because they do not understand the power of commercialised uncontrolled media and cannot resist the urge to communicate socially, Rabaul MP Dr Allan Marat says.
“For students and even some adults, mobile phones have more evil purposes than good ones,” he said.
“Mobile phones are making a lot of young people and students go crazy and poor because they do not understand and cannot control the power of commercialised uncontrolled communication,” he said.
Marat said pornography was easily downloaded to mobile phones and the minds of students got polluted.
“Once the eyes of a student have seen pornography in a mobile phone, the scenes get transmitted to his brain and mind and what guarantee is there that the student will not remember the scenes,” Marat said.
He urged parents not to find an excuse for their children to possess a mobile phone or getting involved in evil activities while being a student.
“Keep drumming into your child’s head wise-counselling,” he said.
Marat said much of the failures of children in school were the result of parents not genuinely changing their attitude before their children.
Marat said if students owned a mobile phone and had been watching pornography and performed badly in school, then they only had themselves to blame.
