Correctional Services will discuss with Justice Department and Attorney-General Secretary Dr Eric Kwa about the mode of execution to be used for people on death row.
“I will get back to the Secretary Dr Kwa to follow up on this matter before further statements are made,” Correctional Service (CS) acting commissioner Stephen Pokanis said.
Justice and Attorney-General Minister Davis Steven is still waiting for the CS Department to say which mode of execution is to be used for people sentenced to death.
There are 16 people on death row.
Steven said the death penalty had been part of PNG’s laws and enforced by judges over the past 42 years.
