THE PNG Fire Service aims to recruit smart, energetic and vibrant young people to modernise the organisation, chief fire officer Bill Roo says.
“We have to modernise the organisation and at the same time perform our functions which is responding to fires,” Roo said.
He said a review of the PNG Fire Act (1962) captured the recruitment of graduates to bring new ideas and boost overall performance.
He said the Fire Service’s main task was saving lives and protecting property. Roo said the service had an aging workforce and it was important to start recruitment.
