MOMASE maintained their top three placing following a fighting 1-0 win over Uni Inter in the Port Moresby Soccer Association’s Super League action on Sunday.

Uni Inter, filtered with experienced hands in PNG internationals David Muta and Reginald Davani, started off confidently but their efforts were in vain, with no real opportunities presenting themselves.

Momase, who did enjoy more possession, had several opportunities with striker Joshua Wesley constantly asking questions of the Uni defence.

Defender Rolland Bala had to call on all his experience to thwart those raids.

With a 0-0 scoreline at halftime the game looked to be headed for a goal-less draw.

Finally after continued pressure down the flanks, Momase’s Allan Kororo managed to link up with Theo Serguis in the box.

Sergius then flicked on for left flanker Moses Arisib backing up in support to nudge home the winner in the 66th minute.

Momase replacement Jason Wesley did his part well in the final 15 minutes with teammates Jimmy Sasu, Junior Sasu, Gabriel Kinamon, Abraham Gure and Basil Ling doing well to hold out a desperate Uni Inter searching for the equaliser.

Uni came close to scoring in a frantic final quarter with several chances going begging as nerves got the better of the boys in sky blue.

The loss sees Uni Inter drop to sixth place on the ladder.
