Money-using processes in place: Pundari

FINANCE Minister Sir John Pundari says there are processes in place on using money that must be followed.
He said when responding to a series of questions by Central Governor Robert Agarobe recently on creating enabling processes for the business arms of provincial governments to grow within the Company Act.
Sir John said he would examine the questions and respond in detail at a later date, but maintained that there were laws to guide the process of using public money which needed to be followed.
“The ethical use of public money is important,” he said.
“Outcomes of public money we use to invest in whatever work we do must be clear.”
Sir John said Agarobe’s questions related to the businesses provincial governments could establish to complement their revenue earning which could be used to support the services in the province.
He said a successful case was East New Britain.
“If East New Britain can do it, there is no reason why all the other provincial governments cannot do it,” he said.
Sir John said he would go through the queries and its specifics and respond in detail to Agarobe.
“At this time, I can make it clear to this house and the people of PNG about the process we can follow.”
