Moni Plus takes services closer to the people

FINANCIAL institutions should be closer to the grassroots people so that they have easy access to financial services.
These are the words of Sir Brown Bai, the director of Moni Plus, at the opening of a branch in Lae, the first for the company outside Port Moresby. Sir Brown said people need financial services, “and an institution like Moni Plus is trying to bridge that gap”.
“We have a lot to play in terms of leading the private sector. Moni Plus opening its first branch out of Port Moresby is to target people and to provide the best services,” Sir Brown said.
“Moni Plus has a commitment to serve the provinces. There is a big financial gap between rural people and urban people.
“We need to create an environment that can bridge this gap. It all depends on how institutions and governments work together.”
Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu, who was at the opening, said people needed to be financially secure.
“People need money to spend each day and having a financial institution in Lae for Morobe will help to address this need,” Saonu said.
“The opening of this branch is in line with my Triple One Policy, that one day each individual must have K1 in his or her pocket.
“My vision is that all people in my province be financial sound, it can be hard to achieve, but it can through financial institutions like Moni Plus, and other institutions.”
Saonu welcomed other investors to set up in the province because it contributed much to the nation and needed more partners in its development plans.
Moniplus have three more branches opening in the next couple of weeks. They are Mt Hagen, Kokopo and Alotau bringing the total number of Moniplus offices to five.
Moniplus plans to open branches in Madang, Kiunga, Kwikila and Buka as it moves towards having a branch in each province.
