Moni Plus win a cliff hanger tussle

MONI Plus won a cliff hanger against SVS Mart, 61- 60, in the FILBA competition last Sunday at the Don Bosco Gym.
With barely eight seconds on the shot clock, SVS were leading Moni Plus 60-59.
Moni Plus coach called for a time-out and mapped out the plan.
Power forward Gerry Roxas drove into the middle lane and made a pressured jump shot to take the lead before soaking up the remaining seconds on defence.
Moni Plus did not waste time in the first quarter with guard Willie Raymundo making six consecutive field goals that saw his team take a 25-13 lead.
SVS guard Ernesto Pura stepped up in the second quarter alongside centre Joe Elavo went for a 16-6 run.
SVS held a handy 10 point lead (41-31) at halftime.
In the third quarter, Moni Plus tightened up on defence and cut back the lead and to stay within striking distance trailing 52-45.
In the final quarter, Roxas took over offensive chores for the money lenders scoring seven of his total 13 points in this quarter alone, including one triple and the winning basket.
Raymundo top scored for Moni Plus with 20 points.
In the other game played, Wel Builders found new strength with Chey Scovell and Malcolm Johnston beefing up their ranks to beat Propest Control, 86-82, in a hotly contested ball game.
Competition points now stands at Moni Plus 10, Red Sea 6, SVS 6, Eltech 6, Wel Builders 4, Propest 4 and Primus 2.
