Monitor import of fake products

Letters

MY young daughter brought home a brightly illustrated storybook titled Pinocchio as part of a series called World’s Beautiful Stories in English.
I was horrified when I looked at the back cover which advertised World Famous Fairy Tales (Made in China, bar code 6212819111585).
Title errors “Allice (sic) in Wonderland” and “The Ugly Ducking (sic)” are unforgivable.
On reading the text, I was horrified to find language and grammatical errors – pinocchio with a lower case “P” even at the start of a sentence, “made a puppet of boy”, “regained it but (was) swallowed by a whale”, then “pinochhio (sic) did not lose courge (sic)”.
How can such publications with poor English be allowed into PNG?
Our children are being exposed to bad English language models when English is our official language of instruction in schools.
What is being done about controlling the imports of such cheap, poor quality, English language publications?

  • Total degrade of our children. Even we have don’t care teachers with very little consideration on our the student is learning.
