MOORE Printing will be aiming to retain their title when they face Westpac in the Private Companies Netball Competition premier division grand final at the Rita Flynn Indoor Complex in Port Moresby on Sunday.
In the major semifinal, Moore Printing beat Westpac 14-7 played in a game of two halves but this showdown is expected to go down to the wire.
Westpac beat 2019 grand finalists Bank South Pacific 34-30 in last weekend’s preliminary final, with Elina Ripason and Jacqueline Kwalu leading their attack.
Moore Printing will be counting on experienced pair Neritha Adula and Manu Sina to unlock Westpac’s defence while the bankers will look to Ripason and Kwalu to put them on the front foot from the get-go.
Papua New Guinea international Adula will need to contain the lanky Ripason and her lobbing if Moore Printing are to retain the title. Kwalu will be looking to provide ample support for her fellow shooter.
In the shooting department, Moore Printing’s young duo Louise Maliaki and Clara Scott will be on it again to pile points against Westpac.
Moore Printing coaches Mary Leka and her sister Julianne Maliaki will be on the bench to ensure their players stick to the game plan.
“We have to focus more on our defence especially in the mid-court to put a lot of pressure on the opposition,” she said.
“We know that this is the area we need to really polish up on as Westpac will be out to hurt us.”
Possible line-up: Moore Printing – Clara Scott (GS), Louise Maliaki (GA), Manu Sina (WA), Kari Ganiga/Violet Jack (C), Venau Aiga (WD), Neritha Adula (GD), Charmaine Kila (GK); Westpac – Elina Ripason (GS), Jacqueline Kwalu (GA), Kerry Koloa/ Loi Lahui (WA), Violet Banian (C), Allanah Tarutia/Freda Sinen (WD), Kerry Agi (GD), Tuana Vagi (GK).
