THE people of the Moran Petroleum Development (PDL) 5 in Southern Highlands have thanked Oil Search Ltd for awarding contracts to their landowner company Moran Inanaka.
PDL 5 principal landowner John Kila thanked Oil Search Ltd on behalf of their local company, directors and management for its contribution towards helping the community and the people.
He said Oil Search Ltd had played a big part in involving the community to benefit from what was taken from their land.
Kila said Moran Inanaka was one of the many landowner companies awarded contracts by Oil Search Ltd.
He said Moran Inanaka was a company owned by the people of Oma, Pawa, Baugele and Yalanda.
He said the people were shareholders and beneficiaries of the company.
However, Kila also urged the developer of the PNG LNG gas project ExxonMobil to do the same to the landowner companies.
He said contracts such as road maintenance and upgrading should be done by the local companies.
He said one example was the Tubage-Homo Pawa road which needed maintenance.
He said this was the main road used now by ExxonMobil.
Kila said landowner companies could be given the contract to maintain and build this road.
He said everyone must take part in the development and this could help change their lives.
