The National – Tuesday, December 7, 2010

IT was a relief when the first Air Niugini’s Dash 8 touched down in Wapenamanda, Enga, from Port Moresby on Nov 27 after six years without air link.
Credit must go to where it is due and it is another job well done by Enga Governor Peter Ipatas.
Engans can now save money and avoid the risk of being robbed while making our way to Mt Hagen’s Kagamuga Airport.
On the same note, I call on Air Niugini and its management to increase the number of flights per week from the current two to four times as the majority of the air passengers who travel via Kagamuga are Engans.
Furthermore, the population has increased resulting in increased travel.
It is also helpful those of us working in the mining, oil and gas sector outside the province to adjust our rosters with the flight frequency to Wapenamanda as we always have to transit via Port Moresby..
