TWO more suspects involved in the killing of Chinese businessman Zhuang Hiu Ming in Bialla, West New Britain, were arrested by police on Tuesday bringing the number of captured suspects to three, according to acting police commander Snr Insp Daniel Yangen. Snr Insp Yangen said six other suspects wanted in connection with Ming’s death were still at large and police were searching for them.
He said a group of eight armed men attempted to rob a shop next to the deceased’s business on Saturday morning when the killing took place. The suspects, allegedly armed with five homemade guns and a bush knife, arrived at the shop in a bus and went inside to rob it.
Yangen said security guards responded quickly by locking down the shop causing the robbers to retreat.
Unable to rob their intended target, the suspects were in the process of exiting the premises when Ming, who was in an adjacent shop, came out to see what was happening and was shot and killed.
A security guard was also injured during the shooting.
Yangen said when the robbers realised they had killed someone, they fled into the bushes near Section 19 of Bialla town.
He said the security guard was still in hospital.
Yangen called on the other suspects to surrender and also appealed to the public to provide information that would lead to their capture.
