THE support for the proposed Ahi Foundation resource centre to be built in Lae continues to flow in.
A local company, PNG Steel Ltd, based at the Malahang Industrial Centre (MIC), has chipped in K2,000 towards the centre yesterday.
Company owner, Mogi Wei, said his company was more than willing to help as the centre would play a big part in bringing together the Ahi communities in social gatherings and other activities.
Wei, from Gumine in Chimbu, who also owns and runs the Lae City Guest House, said his business at MIC was situated on Ahi land, so it was only right that he helped.
“I’m aware that the resource centre will not only be used by the local communities for their gatherings but will also be hired out which will bring in income for the people,” Wei said.
PNG Steel Ltd is a distributor of road maintenance materials like culverts, rail guards, wire baskets and steel posts to road maintenance contractors around the country.
Ahi Foundation promotions officer Cecily Gegelagi, who received the cheque on behalf of the Ahi communities yesterday, thanked the company and said contributions had been quite slow in coming in but responses ha been good.
She said more than K130,000 had already been secured.
