OVER 300 students graduated in front of parents and friends at the Institute of Business Studies Saraga campus last Friday.
The institution’s 13th graduation ceremony saw 391 students graduated in accounting, business, information technology and computing.
Top students received best performance awards, unit awards and internal merit awards.
The ceremony was witnessed by proud family members, friends and sponsors of the graduates who received their degrees, diplomas and certificates after months and years of hard work.
Chief guest at the graduation ceremony was Department of Education Secretary Dr Musawe Sinabare, with special guests in Dr Bruce Armstrong from the Southern Cross University (SCU), institute founder and chairman Mick Nades and Minister for Agriculture, Sir Puka Temu.
Armstrong acknowledged the relations between the university and the institute and congratulated the graduating students.
“I don’t need to say anything to inspire you because you are already inspirational. In fact it is you who inspire me,” he said.
“When I have the privilege of standing here, at a graduation, in front of a group of graduates, and I see the pride and sense of achievement that you all have, then I’m inspired.”
Armstrong thanked relatives and friends of graduates for their support.
Institute director Sadiq Ali told graduates that graduation was the beginning of their lives as educated individuals and they should use their knowledge to educate themselves further, find an employment or use it to become self-employed.
He encouraged those who unable to find employment not to be discouraged as there were opportunities out there for them.
He said Papua New Guinea was a land of opportunity and the graduating students should believe that they have many opportunities.
