More women ‘needed in management positions’
The National, Friday 6th June 2014
FORMER Governor for Milne Bay and local businessman Sir John Luke Crittin has highlighted the need for gender balance at the administrative level.
He told a gathering in Kokopo on Wednesday that having more women participate at the administrative level was a way forward for this country.
“If more women can take up executive posts to run this country, the country will become a good country, the system will get better in terms of transperency,” he said.
Sir John said this was because women work for the benefit of all people, and worked hard for their families.
“You know you can trust them because women are more committed to their jobs. They are loyal and most of them do not easily take in bribes.
My business is operating well because I have a fair number of women working for me,” he said.
According to a 2011 Deloitte report published by the United Nations, investing in women can yield a significant “gender dividend”
It further urged public and private sectors to invest in women and bringing them into leadership positions.
