PORT Moresby Netball Association Under-13s shone on day two of the Newcrest 2018 National Netball Championships, winning five games.
The first round of the championships on Tuesday saw six teams in the U13s in Motu Koita West, Alotau, Port Moresby, Lae 1 and 2 and Kimbe go head to head with Port Moresby leading the tally.
The U15s division saw nine teams compete with Kairuku Hiri and Lae finishing equal first.
In the U17s, Alotau and Kairuku Hiri lead the tally, while Kairuku Hiri lead the U21s.
Tournament director Helen Havora said competition among the teams was good.
“Some of the teams that are doing well in their games are Kairuku Hiri and Port Moresby in the U21s,” Havora said.
“For U17s and U15s home side Lae and Port Moresby are doing well while for the youngest dvision U13s it’s all Port Moresby.”
Havora said the U15s had more teams (10) playing which meant they had more games to play.
“We have seven teams in U21s and U17s respectively. So far, the the Port Moresby Netball Association teams are played in the top three of all junior divisions,” Havora said.
The other associations that have teams in the championships are Jiwaka, Rigo and Hanuabada .
Twelve year-old Nancy Rex (from the Motu Koita West U13s) who played two games on Tuesday and one game yesterday said the games were played at a high tempo.
