Moresby NE Easter Cup boosted by extra K150,000

MINISTER for Community Development and Moresby Northeast MP Andrew Mald has promised to increase the prize money for the Moresby Northeast (MNE) Easter Cup to K300,000 this year.
This will be an increase of K150,000.
Mald announced this during the MNE Chirstmas Cup presentation at the David Unagi Park last Friday.
He said the event marked the final stage of the sporting programme which was aimed at encouraging the community to participate in fitness and healthy activities to ensure a better lifestyle.
The MNE Easter Cup would be the biggest ever with the joint funding of K150,000 each from the minister and the Law and Justice Sector (LJS).
He said a proper launch  for the event would be at the Unagi Park next month and would end with the finals and presentation in April.
The minister said through the LJS, youths actively and effectively participated.
During the presentation last weekend, MNE Youth and Sports chairman Rex Kuman acknowledged the joint support from the minister and LJS and thanked them for making the program successful.
Kuman said the champions in their respective locations were presented with trophies and K1,000 cash while runners up, received K500 and K300.
Other  participating team were also given consolation prizes of K100-K150.
The 17 areas that took part in the programme were: Laloki, 9-Mile Quarry, Makana, Kukipi, 4-Mile Works, Erima Settlement Field, Erima Cement, Wild Life 2, 7-Mile Manuti, 8-Mile First-Last Block, Oro ATS, Milne Bay ATS, Korobosea, Kipo East Boroko and 6 Mile.
As is already the norm, two singsing groups from Chimbu and Milne Bay added color to the presentation and led the dignitaries to the stage.
