MORESBY South Rugby Football League launched its 2022 season at the Moresby South Stadium on Wednesday.
In attendance were the captains of 12 affiliated clubs, acting league chairman Nathan Andes, treasurer and Moresby Stadium manager Bagelo Solien, and competition manager Moses Kumbi.
The captains of reigning premiers Taurama Wolfpack, Kipo Eastern Pride, Korobosea Souths, Two-Mile Pearl and Koki Eels did not attend due to unknown reasons.
Andes welcomed Vabukori Mosquitos and Two-Mile Rabbitohs to the competition which would kick off its season tomorrow.
He said that club executives had yet to confirm their women’s teams who would kick off their match after round three.
“We encourage Kaugere Bulldogs, Kaugere Seagulls, Taurama Wolfpack, Kipo Eastern Pride, Koki Eels, Talai Spartans and Rabbitohs to register women’s teams to promote gender equality in the competition,” Andes said.
Meanwhile, Solien thanked major sponsor and Moresby South MP Justin Tkatchenko for his continued support towards the league.
