Morobe biggest losers in Budget

Letters

THE Morobe government and its people are the biggest losers in the allocation of 2022 National Government Budget allocations.
It is time all nine Morobean MPs withdraw their political support from the current Prime Minister James Marape and Pangu Pati-led coalition Government in protest before next year’s National General Elections.
There is really nothing for Morobe in the 2022 National Budget to be proud of.
It was sad to see Finschaffen MP and National Planning and Monitoring Minister Rainbo Paita dressing in traditional Highlands attire in such a grand public display during the Budget presentation and debate was a disgrace and disrespectful to all Morobeans.
As the Finschaffen Open MP, we would love to see our Minister for National Planning and Monitoring dressed up in our Morobean (Finschaffen) customary way of chiefs.
Minister for National Planning has cut down on the Morobe budget allocation by K113 million and allocating K2 billion in Public Investment (PIP) project funds under his National Planning and Monitoring Minister’s discretionary funds in the 2022 national budget to be used as discretionary funds in the 2022 financial year instead of giving these public monies directly to each provinces and districts, especially when the elections are on next year is questionable.
Morobe government budget cuts of K113 million will certainly effect the delivery of many government services to most remotest parts of our nine districts and 33 LLG establishments.
We, Morobeans, produce far too many educated people, particularly current and former politician and bureaucrats, who are out there who but are not coming out and fighting for Morobe people’s interests and that’s really bad for the province and its people.
The entire Morobe people – from Menyamya/Aseki, Bulolo/Wau, Huon Gulf, Markham, Lae, Nawaeb, Finschaffen, Tewai-Siassi and Kabwum – must vote for God-fearing candidates that can stand up for Morobe and its people.
