MOROBE Country rugby 7s competition will be going into their finals this weekend. The competition is sponsored by the No.1 Hire Car.
Supporters Club Rugby Union Morobe (SCRUM) development officer Robin Tarere said the competition had been running for three weeks and were fortunate to have a sponsor.
Company operation manager Luke Brere and Lae branch manager Ezekiel Namaliu said they were pleased to support the competition for K3,000.
Tarere said the assistance would go a long way to developing 7s rugby and boost the players’ morale. The competition attracted 20 teams. They were slotted in four pools of five.
Tarere said the top eight teams would battle it out in the cup quarter-finals while the bottom eight play for the bowl this weekend.
The cup-finals will see NGI Hornibrook Harlequins take on Kaliba Dogs, Tent City meet Blue Heelers, Sagasec face Royals and Pirates clash with Old Crocs.
In the bowl finals, Aros Magpies meet 02 White Shark, C Town Leftovers face Bullets, Uni Reds clash with MFS and Mantis take on Papuan Blacks.
