Morobe govt helps to acquire land

THE MOROBE provincial government and its provincial lands division aim to assist the Government to acquire sold or alienated customary land.
Governor Kelly Naru and deputy Judas Nalau and Deyamos president Patrick Bassa presented K250,000 as the first partial payment for Satwak station in interior Kabwum.
The initiative is purposely to fulfill the Government’s 2050 vision to have 20 per cent of land in addition to the existing three per cent for infrastructure and development.
The Satwak was transformed into Komba local level government station in 2007 since its establishment in 1997.
The 12.8 hectares of land has seen the establishment of services such as the Sambore Community School, health centre, airstrip built in 1972 and Komba LLG established in 1997.
Provincial Lands programme adviser Jonah Suvi said that land lost the provincial government K1,193,354 and K250,000 was partial payment for it.
The Komba council is among 33 LLGs within nine districts of 264 wards in the province.
Naru said all customary land in the 33 LLGs on which government services and assets like LLG stations, aid posts, health centres, cocoa, coffee and tea plantations and cattle farms were established on it to support the Government’s ambition to acquire 20 per cent of the land by 2050.
