MOROBE community leaders have been warned to stop misleading people about the appointment of the provincial administrator.
“It is unbecoming and illogical for non-government organisations and women leaders including the public to involve in provincial administrative matters,” deputy governor Morokoi Gaiwata.
Gaiwata was referring to a newspaper report last week, saying Morobeans wanted former administrator Kemaseng Tomala to remain.
The article was by Morobe Independent Justice Association president Jasper Jema, university students, Rev Elymas Bakung and women leaders Miti Katu, Yatap Matere and Alevi Michael.
Gaiwata said administrators and various senior positions were contracted to serve for five years by the National Executive Council acting upon Public Service Commission (PSC) and Department of Personnel Management (DPM) advice.
“Administrators positions are advertised after five years. The PEC selects three nominees and submits  to PSC, DPM and NEC and make the appointments,” he said.
This was the usual government processes and procedures.”
He said same process was followed to appoint acting administrator Geoving Belong for three months after PEC has submitted three nominees include Tomala, Belong and Patilias Gamato.
“The PEC will abide by the same process and after three months, will submit another three nominees whom PSC, DPM and NEC will determine and appoint the administrator,” Gaiwata said.
West Taraka law and order committee’s include Bonza Wangi, Jerry Tasmai and Buruge Rowe hailed Tomala’s invaluable effort to initiate various impact projects during his term as provincial administrator.
