STEVEN Yearin from Watarise, in Morobe, collected his solar panel kit worth K500 at the Digicel Lae office last Friday.

Yearin was one of 46 lucky winners in Draw 1 of Digicel lucky SIM promotion.

Yearin thanked Digicel for bringing services to remote communities and rewarding them with promotions that would assist in day-to-day hardships that Papua New Guineans face in those areas.

He said he planned on using his solar kit to light up his home, and would be able to save money he would normally needed to spend on kerosene for lamps. The ‘Lucky SIM’ promotion was launched last month in rural locations across all 4 regions.

The first draw on July 3 saw 46 Digicel customers from the regions walk away with prizes that included solar panel kits, generators, fishing sets and store bought – food baskets.

The next draw was scheduled for Friday.

To enter the draw, customers needed to buy a Digicel SIM card from one of the Digicel distributors, and ensure SIM card was inserted into their phone and keep their phones switched on.
