THE Seventh-day Adventist Church in Morobe needs a secondary school to meet the province’s demand for Adventist education, Morobe Adventist Mission education director Smith Kintau says.
“Ragiampun Adventist was set up five years ago and is our only high school,” he said.
“This school recently opened a four-in-one classroom with K216,100 funding from the Morobe government under its new school infrastructure development grant policy.
“This will enable us to raise Ragiampun Adventist High to a secondary school.”
Kintau said the church had plans but there was no funding and the government’s assistance would help in the development of adventist education.
“Church does not have many schools but parents have raised concerns of wanting their children to maintain Christian education, from elementary to grade 12, and on to tertiary,” he said.
Kintau said that there were seven primary schools and more than 10 elementary schools under the Adventist education agency.
“There are plans to raise Gabensis Adventist Primary to a high school,” he said.
“There are also suggestions of taking on technical and vocational education and training.
“We appreciate the government-church partnership and also for the continuous support for infrastructure developments for our children and the country’s future generation.”
