Morobe plans own Yumi Lukautim project

MOROBE is going to have its own version of the Yumi Lukautim Mosbi project.
The project will be implemented in Lae district followed by
Wau-Bulolo and Finschhafen.
A delegation from Morobe visited Port Moresby recently to discuss
the concept with the Yumi Lukautim Mosbi office.
The group consisted of Morobe youth council chairman Robert Williong, secretary Francis Masiang, Lae district community development officer Colen Otto, Lae district
youth council president Jiei Simoi and project co-ordinator Leo Gabriel Kwan.
The Morobe delegation was briefed on how the project operates in Moresby and were taken around the city to visit various locations where the project have had a positive impact on youths.
The group also had a chance to meet NCD Governor Powes Parkop who was instrumental
in making sure the
project is to start in Morobe.
Parkop thanked the Morobe administrator Kemasang Tomala and the provincial government for allocating
K1 million for the Yumi Lukautim Morobe project.
It should give youths a second chance in
life, reduce poverty, maintain law and order and reduce unemployment.
It will also give the business community in Lae a boost and encourage investment in the province.
The Lae district community development and the Lae district youth council are
now tasked to form the 23 ward youth associations.
They must also provides an update on the youth population in preparation for the launching of the Yumi Lukautim Morobe project.
Williong thanked the Yumi Lukautim Mosbi teams for allowing Morobe to adopt the concept.
