MOROBE police started their festive period operations this week.
Acting provincial police commander Chief Insp David Warap said the fighting zone declared in some parts of the province and in Lae city would make it easy for them to police.
With the full police presence in the city and outer parts of the province, Morobe was generally quiet.
But events in the nation’s capital, Port Moresby, with two governments in place could turn things sour if it was prolonged further.
Under the operation code-name Operation Santa Claus, police will again display their policing skills for a safer festive period.
Warap said his officers were aware of the national issues.
He said despite that  the officers would ensure this festive period “is peacefully celebrated” in Morobe.
