BOANA station in Nawaeb, Morobe, will now have a police team stationed there to address law and order issues in the area.
The police station recently reopened, is boosted with a new police vehicle and five police officers led by Senior Sergeant Alex Romosaso.
The 10-seater Landcruiser was bought by the Nawaeb development authority (DDA) yesterday.
Nawaeb DDA chairman Kennedy Wenge said he was happy with the appointment of Romosaso as the police station commander of Boana and pledged to work with him in addressing law and order issues in Boana and Nawaeb.
Wenge said he would make sure all police vehicles in the district were equipped with the Global Positioning System (GPS) so that the vehicles were not misused.
Lae MP John Rosso said he would help Wenge in policing areas where they share boundaries.
“Lae shared boundaries with Nawaeb and we will support each other and make sure law and order issues are addressed in both districts,” he said.
Rosso supported Wenge’s call to install GPS in all vehicles.
He said all Lae district vehicles had GPS trackers and he would partner with PPC Morobe to have GPS in all their vehicles.
Morobe police commander Alex N’Drasal warned his men to look after the vehicles.
