Morobe schools prepare for exhibition

Education

Schools in Morobe are preparing for an inter-school exhibition to display students’ skills and talents next term.
Students from high schools, secondary schools, technical schools, vocational education and training centres, and permitted schools like Lae Christian Academy, Christian Integrated School, and Assembly of God (AOG) Secondary will come together in displaying their creativity, skills and talents on June 20 to 21.
The exhibition would be on the theme of ‘creativity, innovation and unity in education’ in week eight of term two.
It would be in five areas of science and technology, arts and culture, tourism and hospitality, agriculture and usage of herbs, and entertainment – music, drama, tableau and visual arts.
Students would be showcasing under entertainment category in areas of corruption, pollution and littering, domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, cybercrime, biblical stories, and health and hygiene.
Exhibition coordinator and Busu Secondary School principal George Noble said students would be displaying their skills, talents and knowledge in these areas.
“Students will be exposing their talents and skills,” he said.
“Each school will have displays for students to explain their innovations.
“It is for students to change their mindsets from cult activities to achieve provincial government’s drive to ‘Kisim Bek Morobe (Take Back Morobe)’ in education.
“This will see schools helping each other to learn rather than having rivalries, and at the same time educating the public.
“We anticipate for all schools in the province’s nine districts to participate.”
The provincial government is supporting the programme with K100, 000 with its education division to look for a venue and engage security for the event.
