Morobe south coast areas need rural electrification

I AM not from the Salamaua and Morobe LLG  in Huon Gulf District OF Morobe Province but truly feel for the people living in these areas.

They struggle to earn money by travelling to Lae city in boats to market their fish and garden produce to sustain them.

These people need electricity supply along the Huon Coast line from Labu all the way to Morobe just like Wampar LLG people who benefit from the rural electricity programme.

PNG is 40 years old and why are they still sleeping under kerosene lamps?

They have infrastructures like schools, health centres and jetties but no electricity supplies.

I am aware that the terrain makes it difficult for roads and other infrastructure but if the Government builds hydro power projects, it will be a milestone for the people of Huon Gulf.

Current local MP Ross Seymour and whoever wins in 2017 national elections must make this a priority development.

They must follow the example of Bulolo MP Sam Basil who have been developing his electorate despite the difficult terrain.
