Morobe teachers get bus fare

Letters

LAST Monday, teachers serving in Morobe were seen lining up at the famous Tutumang Haus to collect their leave fare.
There are some things that the Morobe provincial education board and administration must consider for improvements.
As of 2018 and beyond, all leave fares must be directly deposited into the teachers’ personal bank accounts instead of paying them out in cheques.
Indigenous Morobe teachers should be given an equal amount of money to travel home instead of getting only bus fares.
For instance, a teacher travelling to Sepik or Gulf is getting more than K10,000 on average, while a hard-working teacher travelling to Markham gets K50 for bus fare.
A flat rate of say K3000 or K5000 must be given to local Morobe teachers who are also contributing to the development of Morobe and Papua New Guinea.
The leave fare budget comes from taxpayers’ money and it is a public fund.
I am appealing, on behalf of all the teachers in Morobe, to the governor, administrator, PEB chairman, education adviser, leave fare committee and all the head teachers and principals to do their work diligently by way of making sure teachers get a 100 per cent share of their leave fares and get it on time.

Disappointed Mr Rainy
