SNS Port Moresby Vipers coach Shane Morris wants the team to improve from last year’s performance in 2012 Digicel Cup competition.
In his second year as coach, Morris has learnt a lot from people especially players and coaching staff around him.
And he wants to make 2012 season a good year for the club.
“I firmly believe that everyone, does not matter what age you are, has the ability to continue to learn. When you continue to learn and further educate and develop yourself that is when you can help others,” he said.
Morris said he was privileged to be a coach in the national competition in PNG.
It was a learning curve for him and the current Vipers coaching staff.
“We have learnt from last year and have put plans in place to go two steps further this year.
This year’s competition will be a harder season as all teams have stepped up a gear to better themselves so every game will be a test to all players, coaches and officials.
“There is no such thing as an easy game in the Digicel Cup,”
he said.
Port Moresby Vipers are lucky to have great sponsor in City Pharmacy Ltd.
The staff and management of CPL assist the Vipers every game day with medical supplies.
They also look at personal needs such as education and jobs as well as feeding and clothing the players.
The teams minor sponsors are Mortein, Credit Corporation Ltd, Goodman Fielders, Coca-Cola, NCDC and Elastoplast.
Morris said he had a good coach staff in Solomon Kuliniasi as head trainer, Paul Komboi as assistant coach, Arua Ben Moide as strength-conditioner and rehabilitation coach and former Australian and Brisbane Broncos fullback Julian O’Neil as the skills coach.
