Most of those vaccinated received AstraZeneca vaccine, says control centre

MOST of the 230,255 people vaccinated around the country as of Tuesday had received the AstraZeneca vaccine, according to the National Control Centre.
Of the 390,610 doses of Coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccines administered, 239,853 were AstraZeneca, 131,324 Johnson & Johnson and 19,433 Sinopharm.
A statement from the centre said 230,255 people had been fully vaccinated and 291,678 had received one dose of the vaccine.
The total Covid-19 cases recorded as of Monday was 36,446 – with only 50 diagnosed in the past 14 days.
There were 596 Covid-19-related deaths.
There were 706 Delta variant cases and one Omicron case.
There were 16 cases reported in the National Capital District, 12 in East New Britain, five in Central, four in New Ireland and three in Manus.
Enga, Southern Highlands and Northern reported two cases each while Morobe, Milne Bay and Hela reported one each.
All the provinces have recorded Covid-19 cases since the pandemic hit the country in March 2020.
The national positivity rate is 13 per cent and the monthly average positivity is 7 per cent.
As of Monday, Gulf, West New Britain, East New Britain, New Ireland and the Autonomous Region of Bougainville were classed as medium-risk areas while the rest of the country were low-risk.
