A mother of three from Eastern Highlands has been jailed for nine years for killing her cousin in Port Moresby.
Olivia Warome, 30, from Watabung village in Daulo district, Eastern Highlands, has been convicted of killing Wendy Wauwe three years ago.
Warome had found Wauwe asleep with her husband and attacked her.
Justice Panuel Mogish convicted Warome in the Bomana Court on Friday on a charge of manslaughter.
Warome pleaded guilty. She admitted to killing Wauwer on the night of April 18, 2015, at the 5-Mile ridge settlement in NCD.
She was arrested and charged on April 30, 2015.
Warome was 27 years old when she committed the offence.
The court heard that on the night in question, Warome went to find her husband because he had not returned home.
She found him asleep with Wauwe at one of her husband’s relative’s house.
She stabbed Wauwe in her sleep and killed her.
She surrendered at the police station that same night.
