POLLING for Motu-Koitabu Assembly election in National Capital District was successfully completed yesterday.
Counting is expected to start on Monday at the Sir John Guise Indoor Stadium, according to the PNG Electoral Commission.
NCD assistant election manager Rossie Tobogani told The National yesterday that polling was successfully completed yesterday.
She said they were looking at completing counting within 10 days, starting on Monday.
“We were actually planning for one day but due to certain circumstances, we had to conduct the polling for two days,” Tobogani said.
“Polling was successfully completed.
“We will do counting for all seats – chairman, women’s rep and ward councillors – all at the same time.”
Tobogani said they would use electronic counting for the chairman’s seat and manual counting for the rest.
“This will be the first time we will use electronic counting for elections,” she said.
National Capital District election manager Terence Hetinu said writs for Motu-Koitabu Assembly election were expected to be returned to the Governor-General by Oct 20.
