Mougulu hosts first DDA meeting
THE first meeting for North Fly district development authority in Western is being held in remote Mougulu station in Nomad local level government.
It was the first for a rural ECPNG mission-run station to play host to the district. The DDA meeting started yesterday and will end today
MP and chairman James Donald and his board decided to conduct the meetings in all six LLGs, including remote locations. That started last year.
Mougulu was the first remote location chosen after several meetings in urban locations like Kiunga , Ningerum and Tabubil.
Olsobip and Nomad LLGs are not only rural but also remote. They did not get any chance to host the DDA meetings in 2017 and last year.
But this year, Mougulu, a ECPNG mission-run station in Nomad, was chosen to host the first meeting this year.
Donald said the idea was to bring the government business to the rural population so that they could witness how the DDA meetings were held and how political decisions were made at district level.
He said it was also to bring the presence of the government to the rural communities.
