PEOPLE came to Kutubu from all over Southern Highlands and as far as Tambul in Western Highlands province to pay their last respects to Sir Kapi Natto.
Sir Kapi Natto was a chief of the Fasu and Foe people who live in Kutubu.
Since the arrival of his body last Saturday afternoon from Port Moresby, people gathered at Moro airport next to the famous Lake Kutubu to welcome their hero.
For four days, the coffin was left at the haus krai for the people to pay their last respect.
The Fasu tribes were disputing where Sir Kapi Natto would be laid to rest. They finally decided that he would be buried today at Mt Urisia, in Kutubu.
Many village leaders spoke highly of a man who was simple and humble in leading his people.
Among prominent leaders was David Korowa from Tambul in Western Highlands who urged the people of Fasu and Kutubu to follow Sir Kapi’s humble ways.
He said Sir Kapi Natto was a God-fearing person who helped found the Prison Fellowship for Correctional Institutions throughout the country, especially in Mendi and Port Moresby.
Mr Korowa said the Tambul people would honour him by renaming one of the dormitories in Tambul Christian Academy in his name.
