Moutu approves centre’s design
THE drawing and design phase of the International Convention Centre in Waigani, Port Moresby, was signed this week by the acting director of the National Museum and Art Gallery Dr Andrew Moutu and the Chinese technical team leader Zhang Ri.
The signing paves the way for more technical consultation and input from line agencies such as the National Planning, PNG Power, Works and other government departments.
Moutu said the project would involved more consultation and he thanked the Chinese government and the technical team for their efforts in completing the design phase of the project.
He said with the completion of the design phase, the project would now move into the technical aspects of the project.
The Chinese technical team leader Zhang Ri said he was happy with their progress at the moment, adding the initial signing of the drawing and design phase showed that their trip had achieved a major objective of their technical mission.
The International Convention Centre is a state of the art design which will promote Waigani as the centre for conventions and conferences.
The National Museum and Art Gallery developed the concept for the Constitutional Park and National Heritage Centre in 1996.
