MP allocates K2m to wards

IN less than six months, Madang parliamentarian and Police Minister Ni­xon Duban has committed more than K2 million to causes in his electorate.
Duban has given priority to three wards, in his area which include Ambenob, Transgogol and Madang urban local level government.
He announced a K1.5 million package for the three LLGs in next year’s budget, with each receiving K500,000 .
Transgogol was given K500,000 to build its council chamber and capacity building while K100,000 was given to MULLG for councillors.
 Another K100,000 was allocated to youths to clean up the town; K100,000 to members of the Ambenob council for capacity building.
The Rotary Park, opposite Madang Resort Hotel, in ward two area, was neglected for some time was given K200,000. The park will be renovated and upgraded.
During a recent provincial festival, Duban presented a cheque for K100,000 for the 10 wards in the MULLG and committed K900,000 to the Yagaum hospital.
The funding will help restore water to the hospital.
Krangket Islanders have been given K200,000 for a seawall project.
Duban also gave K110,000 to nine privately-run institutions. PIMS and Allied Tech received K20,000 each while the rest got K10,000.
Duban said his vision was to see Madang achieve city status and it  meant “each organisation, individual or ward assisted have to do their part”.
