 Mendi MP De Kewanu says that despite court challenges against his seat, he still provides basic services to his electorate.

They included the construction of six Bailey bridges.

Kewanu, pictured, spoke after  the Supreme Court on Feb 10 dismissed an election petition review filed by a rival candidate following the 2012 general elections.

“It’s a victory for the people of Mendi who have mandated me and that process of election was in order as the legal system we have in the country has given me that assurance,” Kewanu said in a statement.

Kewanu said his election campaign theme “for real change” was not an election gimmick.

The projects that Kewanu had undertaken in Mendi include :

  • 80km of road connecting missing links;
  • three quarries to connect missing links;
  • 10 permanent foot bridges;
  • two classrooms;
  • four rural water projects;
  • two teachers’ houses; and
  • 55km Mendi-Tambui road project sealing funded by ADB.

Kewanu said he would concentrate on continuing to implement plans and deliver basic services.

He is the vice-minister for Works and Implementation.
