“RESPECT one another, stand together, leave behind bad attitudes and bring goodwill to see development into the district, province and country,” Forest Minister and Nawaeb MP Timothy Bonga says.
Speaking during the handover-takeover and installation of a new Evangelical Lutheran church (ELC) Boana district president on Sunday at Boana, Bonga said the event was important and historical for the district and one it should be treasured.
“This is because when young children grow up they should follow such ways to know the important role the church has to play in each and everyone’s daily lives,” he said.
Bonga said Nawaeb was blessed because many high profile leaders were from the area.
“The ELC (PNG) head Bishop Rev Giegere Wenge, head of the province Luther Wenge and a member of the national executive council comes from Nawaeb,” he said.
“So the people of this district must be proud of that and thank God, because it is a blessing.”
He said leaders alone could not do work because “there are people behind who stand up to make sure the leaders lead the church and government in a straight way”.
“I take this time to thank outgoing president Rev Mainuka Yunamu, who has worked closely with me to hold the government and the church into working closely.”
