YANGORU-Saussia MP Richard Maru says a matriculation centre is an important asset that will provide a second chance for grade 12 school leavers who do not receive offers.
He said this when agreeing to a proposal with the Divine Word University’s (DWU) Kaindi matriculation centre in East Sepik to upgrade the Warasawa matriculation centre into a provincial matriculation centre for DWU in Wewak.
“The matriculation centre is an important asset that will provide a second chance to all our students who do not receive offers after grade 12 to pursue their dreams of tertiary studies and seek employment opportunities thereafter,” he said.
Maru said the centre would be completed over the next three weeks if Government accounts open next week.
“This is important as this will help us secure addition resources, including funding for the centre as we go onto second pace of the development of the centre.”
The grand opening of the centre is planned for April 6, for the first batch to enroll.
“Our partnership with DWU should guarantee many of our Yangoru-Saussia students who matriculate at the centre space in DWU, especially at Kaindi campus, to take up education, nursing and business degree’s which will be offered from next year.”
Maru thanked DWU vice-president Fr Lawerence Arockiaraj and looked forward to the opening.
