NATIONAL Identification registration for the people of South Fly District will now progress after MP Sekie Agisa donated K150,000 to the PNG Civil and Identification Registry (PNGCIR).
Agisa said he did not want his people in Western to be left behind and miss out on the developments that were taking place in the country.
“My people are from one of the remote parts of PNG which is mostly waterlogged and a maritime province,” Agisa said.
“It’s hard for them to come to Port Moresby and Daru to get registered. So this fund will make it easier for the PNGCIR to reach and register them because identification is needed to register Incorporated Land Groups to fully participate in resources project, vote in elections and so on.”
PNGCIR acting Deputy Registrar-General Salome Bogosia thanked Agisa for the commitment shown to support the Government through PNGCIR in registering its people.
“This funding will go in setting up a fixed office and mobile registration rollout. PNGCIR will be deploying mobile registration officers to South Fly to begin registration as soon as the new office building is set up,” Bogisia said.
