MORE than 25,000 people of lower Asaro, Eastern Highlands, will benefit from a K4.2 million water supply project under the Government’s national water, sanitation and hygiene (Wash) policy.
Daulo MP Pogio Ghate said the Government recently released K2 million as a first payment to local contractor Tais Construction to begin work on the project.
The water supply system will replace the old water supply system that was built in 1974 by the former Asaro Watabung local level government.
The water system will run for 19 kilometres and supply villages from council wards two-four.
Main beneficiaries of this project are the Asaro Station, Mando Lutheran high and primary schools, Asaroka Lutheran Secondary School and the Asaro Rural Hospital.
