MORE than 15,000 people in the Lumusa local level government in Western Highlands will now have access to a better road.

That means no more walking with heavy loads for more than 30km or overnight along the way. Thanks to local MP, Koi Trape for prioritising better road under his district plans.

Trape bought two new excavators and a roller which will now help fix more than 30km of road from Wini to Kaymandain in Lumusa and then to Lower Lai in Wapenamanda, Enga.

The people of Lumusa in the Mul-Baiyer electorate have been without a road for more than 25 years. The road that was built in the colonial times connecting neighbouring Enga’s Wapenamanda electorate.

Previous governors and MPs of Mul-Baiyer had turned a blind eye on the possible road project and people continued to face hardship accessing better road linking to other related basic government services.

Lumusa LLG president Patrick Lepa,on behalf of Trape, delivered the two excavators, a roller and two dump trucks on Tuesday.

Lepa said that his people had been suffering for many years because the only road that connected them to the rest of the province and the country was closed due to non maintenance.

He said previous leaders failed to carry out maintenance.
