Jimi MP Wake Goi wants to furnish district services improvement programme (DSIP) and other development grant compliance reports after six months to relevant Government agencies.
Goi said he would like to set a precedent in the country to submit reports of both physical and financial reports to Government and also to his people on Jimi’s achievements in the first six months.
“This is to ensure accountability and transparency in the district in terms of projects and programmes being undertaken,” he said.
“It is to prove to the Government where public funds were used and or misused, and to ensure timely release of DSG, DSIP and PSIP for implementation.
“The report include how much we received from the Government and expanded on projects and programmes.
“Many a time, district and provincial administrations submit yearly reports.”
Goi who is also the Vvice-minister for works and implementation, highlighted this while presenting the 2016-2017 DSIP outstanding acquittal reports of K9. 5 million.
The previous administration failed to furnish the reports.
Goi challenged all public servants in the district to do what was required of them to implement DDAA decisions without fear or favour.
He also thanked Prime Minister Peter O’Neill for making a commitment of K1 million for road-sealing project linking Banz to Karap.
“Feasibility study, design and costing were done from Banz – to Karap to fulfil O’Neill’s commitment,” Goi said.
“I want all leaders of Jiwaka to cooperate and support to bring Jimi out of bondage and slavery.”
Jimi DDA chief executive Lawrence Itali presented its budget estimates of K25.5 million, including the rollover from 2017 outstanding DSIP funds of K10.5 million.
The money will be expanded on infrastructure, health, education, rural housing scheme, small business, law-and-order and rural electrification programme.
